Help Save Goose!

Meet Goose, our newest kitten & first recipient of The Bunny Fund! Goose & his sister, Clara, were pulled from ACCT & while his sister is doing well, he has a very guarded prognosis. Goose presumably has electrical burns on and in the front of his mouth. He is missing half of his upper and lower lips, the front of his lower jaw is missing the gums so the bone is exposed (as it is partially on the upper as well), and he is missing about half of the tissue on the roof of his mouth. This has also caused his baby teeth to die and begin to fall out. The burns also have left him with about half of a tongue. The lack of extra skin to do any kind of grafts is prohibiting us from doing any kind of restorative surgery at this time. All of these factors make recovery a long and dangerous road. There is threat of infection from exposed bone, undernourishment from not eating properly, dehydration from not being able to drink properly, and a myriad of other obstacles. HOWEVER <end bad news> he's doing phenomenally well! He has a wonderful appetite, takes his antibiotics and pain meds, tolerates mouth cleaning post-eating, and has started to greet his foster mom when she enters the room. He's also started to put up a fight when receiving his subcutaneous fluids, which leads us to believe his strength is greatly improving. The even better news? We THINK, due to a pink color on the edge of his palette wound, that the flesh there is beginning to regenerate!
Goose is in a fantastic foster home & we're hoping for the best.
Goose is our first member of The Bunny Fund, was established in memory of a tiny, paralyzed kitten named Bunny who was pulled from Philadelphia's high-kill Animal Control shelter. She had severe damage to her pelvis, colon, and legs, and while she lived a short time, she was given the chance to receive medical care that she may not have otherwise had the opportunity to. The Bunny Fund is specifically for special needs and medically urgent cats & kittens.
♥ Goose's care is expected to be quite costly. To donate to help save him, make a donation via The Bunny Fund. ♥
